2011-2012 Age Matrix
Your child would play in the league which includes his/her birth date as of July 31, 2011. The age divisions are updated each Fall season - meaning the Spring season uses the same birthday ranges as the most recent Fall season. If for example, your child played in the U12 (age 11) league in the Fall, regardless of whether your child has had a birthday (and is no longer 11, but now 12), he/she would still play in the U12 league in the Spring.
Please note: The leagues listed above can only be offered when enough players register to support multiple teams within the league. In the event that there are not enough players registered to play in a specific age group, the players will be assigned to the next oldest group.

|
- Can I request a specific coach or Team for personal reasons, car pool, etc?
Yes you may, however SCS does not guarantee all requests for a coach or team will be honored.
Coach requests on registrations received as "late registrations" (received after the registration deadline) will not be considered.
[ Back to FAQ ]
|
- When will I hear from a coach?
You should hear from a coach by within 4 weeks of opening day, September th.
We ask for your patience in this matter. If you have not heard from a coach by August 20th, please contact the appropriate age director listed on our web site , on the Board of Directors page.
[ Back to FAQ ]
|
- When are practices held? What days? What time? Where?
SCS does not assign practice days and times to teams. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, each coach determines the practice days and times for his/her team. However we have found that most teams practice two evening a week and we've found that practices are about an hour in length (depending on the age group) - but the number of practices and length of each practice are also both the coach's decision. Practice times are tentatively set for 5:00 to 6:30, and 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Locations: East Bank: Shriners,Harry Hurst, and New Sarpy schools. West Bank: Lakewood, and JB Martin schools.
All coaches will be able to sign up for two practice days per week.
[ Back to FAQ ]
|
- Can I request that my child be placed on a team that practices on a specific day?
No - since SCS does not know at the time a child is placed on a team when the coach will have practice, we are unable to place children on teams that practice on specific days.
[ Back to FAQ ]
|
- How many players are on a team?
The depends on the age of the team - the older the kids are, the more players. We use the LSA rules on Maximum roster size. In addition to this we keep rosters manageable in order for coaches to make sure all players get enough playing time in games.
[ Back to FAQ ]
|
- Are the teams co-ed, or are there all girls teams and all boys teams?
All teams are co-ed for U5 - U7. This season we will attempt to make gender perfect teams for U8 and above for the Recreation teams. All D1 and Metro teams will have separate teams for girls and boys.

- The registration form includes a section about volunteering. Do I *have to* volunteer?
No, SCS does not require parents and/or guardians to volunteer - but we respectfully ask that you DO volunteer at least one hour during the season for something.
Because SCS is an all-volunteer organization (there are no paid positions on the Board), volunteers are absolutely vital to the success and growth of SCS. It also doesn't matter how old you are: we have teen age volunteers as well as grandparents helping out on game days. There are many areas that you can help. Just ask...
We also will issue Community Service Hours for any High School student who volunteers to help us out.
Please check out our FAQ volunteer info page.

The St. Charles Soccer Club Board of Directors, 2011-2012

LSA COACHING COURSES: We need your help.
The 2011 Fall Soccer season is almost here and we are in the planning stages. Each and every year we struggle to find coaches for our program. Without coaches our children will not be able to play. Most concerns parents have is that "I do not know anything about soccer!" The Louisiana Soccer Association (LSA) offers many coaching courses throughout the year. St. Charles Soccer will be able to schedule courses in St. Charles Parish this summer if there is enough interest. Classes are currently scheduled in the area this summer. Please check out the attached LSA COACHING CLASS LIST,
http://www.lsa-soccer.org/Coachs_Corner/Coaching%20Course%20Schedule.pdf
Upon completion of a course St. Charles Soccer will reimburse you for the class.
Qualified coaches are the backbone of any sports program, and soccer is no exception. Please consider taking a coaching class in order to improve our program and your confidence on the field.
Please feel free to contact a St. Charles Soccer Board member if you have any questions. |
