Small-Sided Games (SSG) Questions

The following ONLY APPLIES TO RECREATIONAL TEAMS

1. Are U11 8v8 small-sided games (SSG's) mandatory in Louisiana?

NO - only for the 2004 NOKIA Sugar Bowl Cup Tournament.

2. Can U 11 teams travel to other states and play 11 v11 friendly games? Tournaments?

Teams may add guest players to their roster for such tournaments only but they must follow LSA guest player rules and the rules of the tournament they are attending. If the tournament does not allow guest players then the team cannot increase roster size.

3. Can in-state tournaments have U 11 11 v11 games?

Yes.

4. Can teams play up to avoid U 11?

"Playing up" is left to the respective league/association - LSA discourages it at all ages.

5. What size field & goals should be used for U 11?

Field should be 80-90 yds in length and between 45-50 yds in width. Goals should be 7 feet figh by 21 feet wide.
